Cheney Community Church

This Saturday, March 22, the Awana Club kids will participate in the Regional Awana Games competition being held at Whitworth University Field House Gym, 300 W. Hawthorne Road in Spokane. 

Our teams will be represented in both the Sparks-A-Rama for kindergarten through second-graders and Awana Games, T&T for third through sixth grades; TREK for seventh and eighth and Journey for high school students. The kids have been practicing hard for this annual competition. Admission to the event is $4 for age 13 and over, kids are free.

Wednesday of this week, the church hosted the March birthday party for Cheney Care Center residents. Musical entertainment was provided as well as a colorful birthday cake for all to enjoy.

Cheney Community Church will host “Lifeline Screening,” a preventative health event, on Friday, March 28, beginning at 8 a.m. The event is open to the public; pre-registration is required by calling 1-888-653-6450.

We welcome attendance at our Sunday worship service, 10 a.m. Nursery care and children’s church are provided during this time. Our youth group meets Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Other Bible study and prayer groups meet during the week. Call the office for more information 235 - 4841. The church is located at 1307 Third St.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

All are welcome to worship with us this Sunday, March 23 as we celebrate the third Sunday in Lent. Worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. Fellowship hour follows the worship service. Sunday school for grade school through adult begins at 9 a.m.

Lenten mid-week soup supper and worship continues on Wednesday, March 26. Soup supper is served at 5:30 p.m. followed by Holden Evening Prayer at 6:30 p.m.

United Church of Christ

Sunday services begin at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary at 423 N. Sixth St., led by pastor David Krueger-Duncan. A caring and friendly congregation warmly welcomes all visitors.

Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers every Sunday from 9:45 – 11:15 a.m.

Sunday school for ages 3 – 13 will be held during the worship service.

On Sunday, March 23 the men of the church will gather for men’s breakfast at Willow Springs restaurant, beginning at 7:45 a.m. This group is open to all interested men. Discussion and fellowship are key components of the meetings.

Mark the calendar on the last Sunday of this month. The Children’s Ministries team has planned a family fun event for all who’d like to participate. A group will be bowling together at Cheney Lanes that afternoon from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. It will be a great opportunity for families to spend some time together. Parents or guardians need to pay only for shoe rental and eats.

Sunday school children continue their Lenten project collecting change (or paper money) to help the “Kids in Need of Desks” project for children and schools in Malawi, Africa. All who attend services are encouraged to clear out those jars and dishes of loose change around the house and donate it to a worthy cause.

United Methodist Church

Observe the third Sunday of Lent with us this Sunday at the United Methodist Church. Worship is at 10 a.m. and will be led by the Rev. Terry Hall. Preceding the service there are Sunday school classes at 9 a.m.

A second worship service is offered each Sunday evening at 6 p.m. This service is conversational in style and open to all.

Every Wednesday throughout Lent there will be simple bread and soup meal at the church at 6 p.m.

Following the meal there is a Bible study entitled “Dare to Dream.”

A depression support group meets at the church at 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month. Membership is open.

Cheney UMC is located at 204 Fourth St. Office hours are 8:15 – 11:45 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. For more information about worship or study groups call 235 – 4600.
