Anderson signs to play softball with Western Oregon University

Cheney High School senior Amy Anderson has signed a letter of intent to play softball next year with the Western Oregon University Wolves.

The 5-foot-8-inch Anderson is a two-time All Great Northern League First-Team selection at first base and a Second-Team pick at utility as a freshman in 2011, helping lead Cheney to a 2A state appearance in 2012. She was named the Lady Hawks' most improved player in 2011, and was the team's batting champion in 2013 hitting .448 with 30 hits, 21 runs, 15 RBI, an on-base percentage of .529 and a slugging percentage of .559.

Defensively Anderson had a .992 fielding percent in 2013 with one error in 121 putouts.

The Western Oregon Wolves went 27-26 last season, and were eliminated on the second day of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships by Central Washington, 3-2, their second consecutive one-run loss of the tournament.
