Public comment sought on Terra Vista short plat application

The city of Cheney has opened a public comment period on a short plat application submitted by representatives with Steve Emtman’s Terra Vista development.

The application, submitted by Whipple Consulting Engineers in Spokane Valley, calls for splitting a high-density residential parcel along Alki Street east of existing townhouses and west of The Grove student-housing complex into four separate lots, plus one remainder lot. The four new lots are approximately one acre in size, with the remaining parcel at 44.4 acres.

There is a house located on the larger remaining parcel but according to a drawing submitted with the public comment request that house is to remain.

In an email, Cheney planner Brett Lucas said because it is a four-lot short-plat request, the application is SEPA exempt as per WAC 197-11-305 as well as 197-11-800. A public hearing is not required for the application, but the public can comment on the request from now up until 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.

The application file can be viewed at the Cheney Community Development Department’s Permit Center, 112 Anderson Road, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
