Medical Lake falls to Lakeside in NEA track

The wind might not have been so much of a factor as the week before but the Lakeside Eagles certainly were as they won both ends of a Northeast A League track meet last Wednesday at Medical Lake.

The visiting Eagles scored an 85-60 boy’s victory and raced past the girls 111-30. The Medical Lake boys got wins in nine events while the girls had victories in four.

Sophomore Tellas Johnson again ruled the sprints, and certainly the high jump where his 5-foot, 10-inch jump bettered his opponent by a full foot. Johnson also raced to a time of 11.01 seconds to win the 100-meter dash and took a 23.80 to 24.11 win over teammate Cody LaPort in the 200.

On the girls’ side Amarah Nicholson again swept her races in the 100, 200 and 400.

Medical Lake distance runners swept the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 as Dominic Rehm (2 minutes, 5.50 seconds), Zeb Klemke (4:37.60) and Micah Dingfield (10:25.10) won respective races.

Cameron Peak won with a 45.98 second time in the 300 meter hurdles, and teamed with Rehm, Dingfield and Klemke to earn a 4x400 relay win. LaPort, Jackson Tappero, Elijah Farman and Jared Wright collected the 4x100 relay in a time of 45.44.

Libbie Klettke’s throw of 87 feet, 4 inches in the javelin – she won by 10 feet – was the other girls’ victory.

The Cards split their squads Saturday sending the bulk of the team to the Quincy Invite with the girls finishing sixth and boys eighth.

Nicholson won in both the 200 and 400 dashes and runner-up in the 100. Klettke’s 99-7 was good for second in the discus.

Johnson was second in the 100 and third in the high jump with a 5-8, four inches out of the lead. Wright, Johnson, Farmer and LaPorte were third in the 4x100 relay.

Medical Lake sent Dingfield, Klemke, Rehm, Noah Kroeze and Mark Newberry to last 50th edition of the Mooberry Relays at Rogers High School in Spokane. Dingfield, Rehm, Klemke and Kroeze were fifth in the 4x16 relay while Dingfield, Klemke, Rehm, and Newberry were seventh in the 4x800 as well as the distance medley.

Medical Lake hosted Chewelah in an NEA dual meet this past Wednesday.
