Blackhawks' soccer rolls to 10-1 win at Deer Park

When Deer Park scored a goal in the third minute of last Tuesday’s game with Cheney it was only the third time in 10 games the Blackhawks found themselves trailing early.

That feeling didn’t last very long.

Ian Schmandel’s goal off an assist from Ian Shirey tied things in the sixth minute, with Carson Lamphere feeding Trevan Estrellado for a goal two minutes later for a 2-1 lead that only grew in Cheney’s 10-1 Great Northern League win over the host Stags. Schmandel’s second goal came in the 13th minute, again assisted by Shirey, and First Name Bogart’s penalty kick in the 15th minute led to Cheney’s 4-1 halftime lead.

In the final 40 minutes it was all Cheney as Oliver Smith three goals gave him hat trick while Tad Tinker added two and Jake Neperud one. Estrellado had a pair of assists and Tinker added one. Cheney also scored an own goal in the 76th minute.

The Blackhawks out shot Deer Park 25-6 with Joe Scott making two saves and Kam Galm one.

The Stags dropped to 0-7 in league, 1-8 overall while Cheney extended it’s season-high winning streak to five, remaining unbeaten in the GNL, 7-0, 21 points and 8-2 overall.

The Blackhawks continued their league schedule with just one game this week, Tuesday’s home finale against fourth-place Colville, 4-2, 6-4, 11 points. Cheney wraps up its season slate with three road games, April 16 at second-place East Valley (5-2, 6-2, 15 points), April 18 at West Valley (3-4, 5-5, 9 points) and April 25 at third-place Pullman (4-3, 5-5, 12 points).
