Letters to the Editor

Thanks from the McKeehan family in a time of difficulty

The McKeehan Family would like to thank the Cheney community for their outpouring of support during our most difficult time. My father loved living in Cheney. He would have been so happy with the number of people who attended his memorial service and how the community has been there for us. We will be forever grateful to all the people who have called, brought food, flowers and stopped by. We will never be the same but the whole family feels better knowing that Judy will be living in such a wonderful town. Thank you.

Love, The McKeehans

Hard work and volunteers helped make new food bank a reality

There's a long list of people to thank for making this happen. First, the people from all parts of the West Plains area that support our Care and Share store. Thanks to Anne Starr and her volunteers for their long hours and hard work in raising money.

Next, project manager Dave Seagrave and design space major project manager Robin Tapak for their long hours of engineering and wrangling to complete this project.

Steve Mace who donated some of his cost in building the great sidewalk.

A very big heartful thanks to Don and Lisa Rasmussen of Specialty Asphalt for donating close to $13,000 for the completion of our parking lot.

Now, to food bank director Peg James and the volunteers who moved everything. They put in 12-14 hours a day for over a week of hot, dirty, hard work. The names of those volunteers are: Peg James, Joyce Calloway, Jan Kinn, Kathy Miller, Mary Harrison, Terri Worl, Irene and Nick Wight, Elisabeth Mosely, Hank Clay, Robby Barcher, John, Paul, Justin and Alex.

A special thanks to Wayne Veda, Chuck Dubey and Tami Scott for their expertise and time in removing and rebuilding the shelving.

Thanks to the city for permitting us to open the doors on Founder's Day so the public could see what their money has purchased for us to better serve those in need.

If you have not seen the new food bank at S. 207 Washington, stop by and take a tour. We are all very proud of the new building and will gladly show you around.

The outreach office is also located there.

Thank you volunteers, you are all heroes.
