Medical Lake’s Mat Maulers warmed up for this Saturday’s Jason Crawford Memorial tournament by bringing home six gold medals from last week’s matches in Colville.

Zach Loutzenhiser and Isiaha Thompson won gold medals in the 5-6 age group. Elijah Aguilera and Ethan Davis won silver. Bronze medals went to Samuel Russel, Jaedon Razo and Alex Tareski.

In the age 7-8 division Brady Brennan won bronze. Brenden McNiven and Alex Stith each collected gold for the age 9-10 category with silver going to Taden Englund, Levi Hamilton and Brayden Peterson.

Devon Waterman won a gold in age 11-12, Christopher Ozella earned silver while Tristin Keith and Jaelon Stith won bronze. Conner Seagrove was the gold medal winner in age 13-14.

Saturday’s Jason Crawford tournament is the 23rd annual and the second straight year it has been in Cheney at Eastern Washington University’s Reese Court. The event will draw an estimated 1,300 Little Guy Wrestling program competitors from the region and run from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Admission is $3.

The tournament is named after 12-year-old Jason Crawford, a young wrestler who was killed in 1988 when he was struck by a car while his family was vacationing in Kelowna, British Columbia. Crawford’s dad, Dennis, travels from Georgia to attend the tournament and address those in attendance about the event.
