Lakeland Village union members, supporters confront budgetary blade

A plan to mend state budgets by cutting institution costs would reduce Medical Lake's Lakeland Village to a small nursing facility while leaving Pine Lodge Correctional Center as is.

The first draft of a consultant's report, issued last week by the Office of Financial Management, says future needs for more minimum-security beds at female institutions requires Pine Lodge Correctional Center remain unchanged.
