CHENEY

March 16

A report of a vicious dog was received on the 100 block of West Fifth Street. A child was bit, and the incident is being handled by animal control.

A second-degree theft was reported on the 3000 block of Silverthorn. A purse was taken from a vehicle.

Police arrested Filmon K. Gebrekristos, 25, for fourth-degree assault on the 300 block of First Street.

A report of a vehicle being damaged was received on the 1100 block of Second Street. Arrested was Jess D. Stewart, 24, for second-degree malicious mischief.

March 15

A third-degree malicious mischief was reported on the zero hundred block of G Street. Damage done to mini-storage.

A residential burglary was reported on the 800 block of West First Street. Investigation is pending.

Police arrested Tammii M. Rueff, 39, on the 2800 block of Bethany for driving under the influence (DUI).

A two-car, non-injury collision was reported on the 1300 block of First Street.

March 14

Police assisted an outside agency with an attempted fraudulent check passing on the 300 block of First Street.

Victim was trying to sell a vehicle, and upon verifying validity, found the purchaser's check to be fraudulent.

A report was received of readerboard letters being stolen from a sign at the United Church of Christ.

Police arrested Gabriel J. Enriquez, 19, and Jacob D. Kritz, 18, on charges of third-degree theft.

March 13

Police arrested Zachary J. Berntsen, 22, on the 900 block of First Street for DUI.

A case of identify theft was reported on the 600 block of Union.

A third-degree malicious mischief was reported on the 200 block of Second Street. Damage done to vehicle, no entry gained.

A loud party was reported on the 400 block of North Third Street.

March 12

A third-degree malicious mischief was reported on the 1300 block of Third Street. Damage to car, punctured tire.

A second-degree theft was reported on the zero hundred block of North Eighth Street. A wallet with ID and a camera were taken from an apartment during a party.

A possible child molesting was reported on the 1000 block of Salnave. Incident is under investigation.

A second-degree burglary was reported on the 2700 block of North Sixth Street. The storage shed at Cheney Middle School was broke into, and physical education equipment was taken.

March 11

A possible theft of mail was reported on the 300 block of Sixth Street.

A third-degree theft was reported on the 3200 block of Meadow Glen. No Parking signs were taken.

A possible domestic violence incident was reported on the 1000 block of Second Street. Report was not substantiated.

Police arrested Nicholas L. Keyock, 21, and Kyle B.

Osborne, 20, on the zero hundred block of North Fourth Street for fourth-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief.

March 10

Police arrested Randy K. Whitchurch, 35, on the 2500 block of First Street for driving while license suspended (DWLS).

Police arrested Regina R. Salazar, 29, on the 1700 block of Washington for DWLS.

A third-degree theft was reported on the 1300 block of First Street. For Rent signs were taken.

Police responded to a possible trespass in progress on the 1300 block of First Street. Upon contact, suspect found to have outstanding warrants issued out of city of Spokane Municipal Court.

Police arrested Aaron W. Strom, 26, on a no-bail misdemeanor warrant for a drug-related DUI.

Police arrested Devin F. Chapman, 28, for domestic violence on the 100 block of Pineview Court.

A subject was contacted on the 1000 block of Third Street on a possible minor in possession (MIP).

Police arrested Ryan M. Platz, 20, on a Spokane County warrant for third-degree DWLS.
