CHENEY

Feb. 23

Police stopped a vehicle on the 1500 block of First Street for failure to signal. Upon contacting the driver, the officer noticed the smell of marijuana.

Permission to search was given, and marijuana was found. Arrested was K.M. Lester, 21, for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to signal.

Feb. 22

A second-degree theft was reported on the 200 block of Betz Road. A snowboard, boots, jacket, various sports equipment and other miscellaneous items were taken from a vehicle.

Police assisted Child Protective Services by arranging a transport of a juvenile from Cheney High School.

A vehicle striking a pedestrian was reported on the zero hundred block of Erie.

The vehicle driver reported they had struck a female. The officer reported the female said she was not injured and refused medical attention.

Feb. 21

Police stopped a vehicle on the 1700 block of Washington Street that had been traveling southbound at a high rate of speed.

Arrested was Edward A. Villalvazo, 20, for negligent driving and third-degree driving while license suspended (DWLS) out of California.

Feb. 20

An abandoned vehicle, a 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage, was impounded on the 2400 block of University Lane.

A second-degree theft was reported on the 200 block of Betz Road. A wallet, boots and several novelty knives were taken from a vehicle.

A third-degree theft was reported at the high school. An iPod Nano was taken from the locker room.

A second-degree malicious mischief was reported on the 500 block of North Sixth Street. Taillights were broken, writing and dents made on several vehicles.

Police stopped a vehicle without working headlights at the Zips parking lot. Police arrested Jeffory J. Bell, 40, for driving under the influence (DUI).

A 16-year-old female runaway was reported on the zero hundred block of Fourth Street.

Feb. 19

A juvenile warrant arrest was made on the 400 block of Cambridge.

A mother had tracked her son to a residence there and requested police arrest the 17-year-old male on a Spokane County civil youth at risk warrant.

A third-degree theft was reported on the 2200 block of First Street. A car stereo was taken.

A third-degree theft was reported on the 200 block of Betz Road. Two bicycles were taken.

A second-degree theft was reported on the 2200 block of First Street. A stereo and speakers were taken from a vehicle.

A third-degree theft was reported on the 2200 block of First Street.

A car stereo was taken from one vehicle, and a car stereo faceplate was taken from a second vehicle.

Feb. 18

A third-degree theft was reported on the 300 block of Fifth Street. Patio furniture was taken.

A third-degree theft was reported on the 1200 block of First Street. Some methadone was taken from a vehicle parked at Lenny's.

Feb. 17

An identification theft was reported on the 700 block of West First Street.

Credit card information was reported as being used to open up on-line accounts. Report is under investigation.

A fourth-degree assault was reported on the 900 block of First Street. Two people were observed fighting in the street in front of Zips. Police arrested Ryan J. Vickstrom, 23, for fourth-degree assault.

Feb. 16

Police received a report of a person lying in the middle of the road on the zero hundred block of Betz Road.

Officers found a very intoxicated female lying in the intersection of Betz and SR-904. Female was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center for observation.

Police pulled over a vehicle on the 1500 block of Fourth Street after receiving a 9-1-1 report that the vehicle was driving very erratically through town.

Police arrested Brenda K. Waters, 49, for DUI.

A BB gun was found on the 100 block of Betz Road.

A residential burglary was reported on the 100 block of Third Street. A three-diamond necklace was taken.

MEDICAL LAKE

Feb. 12

Officers took a juvenile runaway report.

Vehicle pursuit of reckless driver in Spokane. The vehicle later was found to be recently stolen from Spokane Valley.

Officers responded to the 100 block of North Walker on a verbal dispute.

Officers took a report of a vehicle theft that occurred in the 200 block of East Barker.

Feb. 13

Received a report of a vehicle theft that occurred in the 400 block of East Connie Ray Avenue.

Feb. 14

Contacted two juveniles illegally fishing on West Medical Lake. Fish and Game cited both juveniles for the above listed violation.

One juvenile was also cited for minor in possession and the other juvenile was booked on an outstanding warrant.

An officer was dispatched to an animal problem in the 1200 block of East Stanley Drive.

Feb. 15

Officers responded to the 800 block of West Maple on the report of a possible suicidal subject.

Received complaint of vehicle abandoned in the woods at the Medical Lake Boat Launch.

Feb. 17

Cody J. Link, 18, of Medical Lake was arrested for DUI in the area of Stanley and Herb Street.

Officers responded to the 200 block of West James Street on the report of a verbal dispute.

Officers took a report of a possible assault occurring in the 1000 block of East Ladd Street.
