    PAUL DELANEY, Staff Reporter|Updated Jun 7, 2018

A strange mechanical problem might just have kept Medical Lake’s Justin Cooper out of the winner’s circle at the National Hot Rod Association’s Jegs All-Stars Super Comp division June 2 at Route-66 Dragway in Joliet, Ill. Following a hair-splitting victory over Val Torres in round-one of the eight car race, Cooper red-lighted, leaving too early at the start. But it was not by Cooper’s hand he said. “I had a mechanical failure that caused the car to roll out of the stage,” C...

  • Bats get hot for Medical Lake AA Legion team

    PAUL DELANEY, Staff Reporter|Updated Jun 7, 2018

The big bats made up for some weak gloves last week for Medical Lake’s American Legion Post 196 baseball team. Rebounding from an 0-2 start on the season, Medical Lake evened its National Division record at 2-2 following a pair of poundings, 11-1 and 11-3 handed out to North Central Black. • We deserve a National Hockey League team in our state

    GRACE POHL, Staff Intern|Updated Jun 7, 2018

Before moving here, I had never really liked hockey or even paid attention to it. But then I went to my first Spokane Chiefs game and I was hooked to the sport. Now that we are in the thrills of the Stanley Cup finals, I think it is incredible that there are two teams competing for a trophy that neither franchise has won before (take note, NBA). What is even more remarkable is that one of the teams is less than a year old and is competing for the desired trophy. Due to not having a NHL hockey team around the Pacific...
