    The search for Cheney School District’s next superintendent in underway. Current superintendent Dr. Deb Clemens, who took over for Larry Keller in 2013, has accepted a job at the North Thurston School District. After her contract with Cheney is finished in June, she will start at North Thurston July 1. At a March 29 meeting, the Cheney School Board agreed to an open competitive search for Clemens’ replacement.     Dr. Warren F. Heinemann, Ph.D and retired U.S. Army Major passed away the morning of April 2, 2016 in Livermore, Calif.     One hundred twenty-five years ago in 1891, A privately owned electric light plant is built at 701 First street at a cost of nearly $15,000. Louis Walter was hired as an agent for the company. Shortly after, the first street lights installed. Two dynamos at the plant generate enough power to light 700 incandescent bulbs. The building still stands today, known as the Liefer Apartments.
