    Brandon is Big Sky Player of the Week Once again coming close to the first triple-double in school history, senior point guard Drew Brandon was named co-Big Sky Conference Player of the Week in EWU’s 98-95 overtime victory over Idaho Jan. 31. It was the second time this season Brandon has been honored by the league. He shared the award with Sacramento State’s Mikh McKinney.     Poor point production in the paint continues to plague the Eastern Washington women’s basketball team. That, combined with one of their poorest field goal shooting percentages of the season, helped lead to a 71-58 loss Saturday, Jan. 31 to the University of Idaho at the Cowan Spectrum in Moscow.     The Cheney High wrestling team finished the regular season Jan. 30-31 in Coeur d’ Alene competing at the North Idaho Rumble. Michael Ferguson took home another first-place finish in the 220-pound weight division.     The Medical Lake seniors who did wrestle in the final home match will take away pleasant memories, both personal and for their team which defeated Riverside 47-30 Jan. 29. Both Justin Brundage at 152 pounds and Hudson Petek (160) earned easy victories as Medical Lake won its first Northeast A League dual meet of the season.     The Cheney High boy’s swim team capped off the regular season at home Jan. 31 with a 97-70 loss to Pullman. Despite the defeat, several Cheney swimmers finished in the top three spots. Caleb Prophet recorded a season-best time in the 50-yard freestyle after he finished first in 24.53 seconds. Brock Jongeward finished third in the event (25.56).     The Cheney High girls basketball team found the going rough last week as they searched for their first Great Northern League win of the season. The Lady Blackhawks losing streak extended to six games with losses to Clarkston, 57-39, East Valley, 59-31 and West Valley, 58-48. Cheney trailed by just four points, 23-19, last Tuesday against visiting Clarkston, but was outscored 34-20 in the second half in the loss.
